Domestic Heat Recovery

Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)

Installing a heat recovery ventilation system can transform your home.

Efficient ventilation brings in fresh air from outside, while extracting unwanted smells, moisture and stale air.

The heat recovery unit is able to recover up to 96% of the warmth from the extracted air going out and uses it to heat the supply of fresh air coming in. This makes it cost-effective and eco-friendly.

Ventilation reduces the humidity, combating condensation and making the rooms feel warmer.

New buildings or old buildings can all benefit from MVHR (Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery).

DESIGN

We can price from plans or we can visit your home, calculate your room volumes and air flow rates and design a ventilation system that meets your needs.

We use various heat recovery unit brands, so can advise you on the best and most cost-effective products available.

Generally, the ventilation system is designed to extract from the kitchen and bathrooms and supply fresh air to the other living spaces.

We are able to supply you with a complete kit for your home for a DIY project or carry out the full installation ourselves.

installation

The general procedure for MVHR installation requires a first fix early on in the building project and a second fix towards the end of the build.

First fix installation will run all the duct into the ceilings, fitting the roof vents or wall vents and siting the heat recovery ventilation unit. We carry out any required diamond core-drilling with our own equipment..

Second fix installation includes fitting the supply and extract vent grilles into the internal rooms. The installation of the MVHR unit can be done in the second fix if the building design allows for it.

Commissioning of the system optimizes the air flow rates in each room and checks the system meets the Building Regulations (Document F).
